Timothy H. Trout
Timothy H. Trout brings over thirty years of medical professional liability insurance experience with a highly successful track record in managing Missouri’s number one market leader, Missouri Professionals Mutual. Mr. Trout has spent a considerable amount of time in designing and researching a plan to enter the Kansas medical professional liability insurance market.
Mr. Trout combines an unprecedented understanding of the medical malpractice insurance business, with a personal dedication to return the sacred relationship of healthcare to physicians and patients. He has devoted his career to achieving this mission, and in doing so has built a strategic network of professionals across the Midwest.
Mr. Trout has developed alliances with some of the nation’s leading reinsurance companies, actuaries, banks, lawyers and accountants. Through these business relationships, he has conducted numerous market research studies and utilized extensive methods of data analysis to determine the best possible insurance solutions for the Kansas marketplace.
Mr. Trout’s extensive experience in this industry includes the formation of a medical professional liability insurance company in Missouri. As a result of his careful reflection on the needs of Missouri’s marketplace, Mr. Trout formed Missouri Professionals Mutual (“MPM”) in 2003 as a mutual insurance company under Chapter 383 of the Missouri Revised Statutes. He employed an innovative outsourced business model that combines a selective underwriting process with a proactive, aggressive approach to claims management. The results speak for themselves. After its first full year of business, MPM had become the leader in the market, a position it maintains today. It insures over 2,400 physicians and surgeons which represent 35% of the market.
Lynn F. Trout
Lynn Trout is a registered nurse and the spouse of Mr. Trout. Her thirty-four years of experience in hospital work and administration is experience that will be put to good use by MPMKS. Mrs. Trout has directed large numbers of hospital staff and has practiced in a variety of different settings. She is currently a volunteer for several charitable organizations in the St. Louis Community.
James P. Streff
James P. Streff is a respected professional property and casualty actuary in the insurance industry with over thirty-five years of experience advising clients on a wide range of financial issues. Mr. Streff was instrumental in guiding MPM in the formative years and helped senior management make the company a strong medical professional liability insurance company. He has the unique ability to apply science to a broad spectrum of insurance matters.
Mr. Streff’s ability to express complicated issues effectively was developed during his twenty-five years of teaching at the University of Wisconsin Management Institute. He was a visiting lecturer in the insurance finance program. Mr. Streff also developed course work on other actuarial disciplines to be taught at the Management Institute. He has been frequently invited by the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (“NAMIC”) to present workshops at its annual Management Conference.
James Streff has led a group of consulting actuaries for twenty-five years. The firm has grown to be the 15th largest property and casualty consulting firm in the country with clients across the nation.
Mr. Streff is committed to bringing his technical and managerial skills to MPMKS in order to assist the company in offering a valuable product to the medical community while ensuring the policyholders are adequately protected.
